FAQs about kayaking on the Lofoten Islands?
Can I kayak under the Midnight Sun?
Yes! From late May to mid-July, you can paddle under the never-setting Midnight Sun. Our Evening tour starts at 19.00.
Can I rent a kayak without a guide?
Yes, but only if you have a “Wet Card” (våttkort) certification. Without it, guided tours are recommended for safety and to get the best experience.
How fast do we paddle?
Our pace is relaxed and adapted to the group. We take our time to enjoy the scenery and ensure everyone is comfortable. No one gets left behind!
Is kayaking in Lofoten suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! The Lofoten archipelago, with its calm fjords, crystal-clear waters, and sheltered areas, is ideal for beginners. Our guided tours are available to help you get comfortable and make the most of your experience.
What is the minimum age for kayaking?
There’s no strict minimum age, but we recommend from ca 8 years old. Kids can join tours as long as they paddle with an adult. Safety gear is available for children to ensure a safe and fun experience.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel 72h in advance, you’ll receive a full refund.
What should I bring on a kayaking trip?
Water bottle (small)
Comfortable shoes
Extra warm layer (fleece or light jacket – avoid cotton)
Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat)
Dry bag for electronics (camera, phone, gloves, etc.)
A big smile and sense of adventure!
What should I wear?
Dress in layers with quick-drying materials like fleece or wool, windproof jackets on colder days. Even in summer, it’s often cooler on the water, so an extra layer is a good idea.
What wildlife might I see while kayaking?
Expect to see sea eagles soaring overhead, seals basking on rocks, and jellyfish drifting in the clear waters. Always observe wildlife from a respectful distance.
